The latest order of entry has been released for the 2012 Golden Slipper by the Australian Turf Club.

The premiere juvenile event of the world has Magic Millions winner Driefontein as the current number one pick.

Her Magic Millions prize money doesn’t actually count towards the Golden Slipper but despite that she’s still done enough to take out number one spot.

It’s a big list she’s at the top of too, in fact 1310 horses remain in contention at this stage of the acceptance process.

Second acceptances are expected to at least halve that number when they come around next Tuesday February 7th.

The list below features horse which have won the minimum $23,000, of which there are 29.

That number will sky rocket in the coming weeks though with the Melbourne two year old series to be completed, including the Blue Diamond Stakes, before the entire Golden Slipper lead up in Sydney.

As for Driefontein it’s likely she’ll remain in the spelling paddock for the time being with trainer Gai Waterhouse indicating she’ll have just the one start before going second up into the Golden Slipper.

Waterhouse certainly knows how to win the race, the last time she had a Magic Millions winner in the Golden Slipper was Dance Hero back in 2004.

Not only did Dance Hero win the race but the Waterhouse stable filled the minor placings as well!

It’s of no surprise then that even at this early stage Waterhouse dominates the top 29 in the Golden Slipper order of entry.

As well as Driefontein on top she has Pierro in 12th, No Looking Back in 18th, Raceway in 19th, De Shamekh in 20th and Pure Hustle in 24th.

Check out the full list below including Snipzu for Liam Birchley on $109,000 and Real Stolle for John Thompson on $91,500.

Remember too that early bird markets for the 2012 Golden Slipper won’t be too far away at Luxbet.

Follow the progress in Melbourne and keep checking Luxbet to see when you can jump in for the best early odds.

We’ll get another read of form for the 2012 Golden Slipper this weekend when the 2012 Inglis Classic runs at Rosehill Gardens.

We’ve already seen how the best of the Magic Millions graduates made it through their feature race and the Inglis Classic will be the stage for those through that program.

While both are two year old races though don’t expect them to be quite at the same standard as what we saw on the Gold Coast.

While we could be proved wrong as so often happens in juvenile events these horses aren’t expected to do quite as much at this stage.

While in the Magic Millions every horse had at the very least one run to build the required prize money this event won’t be the same.

In fact four of the 14 starters are yet to see a track under race conditions.

Five more of them have only had the single start and Diamond Earth with three runs to his credit is the most capped horse.

Expect plenty of improvement from the horses in this race though and it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on for the Golden Slipper.

Listed below is the final field for the 2012 Inglis Classic so you can get a head start on the competition.

Remember, every bit of detail will help you by the time the Golden Slipper rolls around so watch closely!

If you want to bet on the race also make sure you join up with online bookmaker Luxbet.

Just as we catch our breath from the tremendous Gold Coast Magic Millions Carnival we look forward to the 2012 Golden Slipper and what may lay ahead.

All the focus at the moment is rightly on the Gai Waterhouse pair of Dreifontein and No Looking Back.

They went one two in the Magic Millions, even if their order on the podium was different to how they crossed the line.

No Looking Back beat Dreiftontein to the post but a controversial protest was upheld from Tommy Berry.

Whatever way you see the result there’s no arguing that both horses are strong prospects and by the time we reach the 2012 Golden Slipper both should be somewhere among the top few.

Each of them have been confirmed by the Waterhouse stable to be tackling the Golden Slipper route but some of the other Magic Millions hopes will not be doing the same.

Trainer Gerald Ryan earlier in the week said Amorino wouldn’t be going down that path.

He’ll instead be given a longer spell and will be brought back for the Sires produce Stakes and the Champagne Stakes.

Sizzling meanwhile will have an even longer layoff and will miss the entire autumn period.

His focus is now on the Brisbane winter carnival and the TJ Smith.

Both Amorino and Sizzling were reportedly found out a bit by the early pace of the 1200m and will be looking for more ground.

The connections of Alezan Thunder are yet to make up their minds about the autumn and that’s probably the only other horse worth a mention coming out of the race.

On a day when the track suited the leaders it appears as if these horses are probably the only ones in any kind of Golden Slipper calculations.

That being said the world of two year old racing is a fickle one so make sure you pay close attention to the racing an also keep an eye on Luxbet.

Golden Slipper Day is almost over but not before Chris Waller’s name features once again this time in the quinella for the Queen’s Cup.

It was Syreon who took out the victory just in front of one of the roughies of the field Beijing Boy.

It’s been an interesting day to say the least for Chris Waller who took out the George Ryder with Rangirangdoo just before losing his runner at the gates in the Golden Slipper.

It was a tough run by Syreon which was the strongest horse down the strait and Beijing Boy which finally found some form.

Punters went hard with the favourite Base which looked out of it at the turn but found a run late to storm home hard and grab third spot.

Syreon has been nominated for the Doncaster in what was almost considered a joke before today but now a real chance. Keep an eye on Base for his next race as well.

Mosheen ran on well to claim a gallant second-place, while Elite Falls proved she was at her best and passed the post in third.

In a race that has great consequences for the breeding prospects of the runners, Sepoy has cemented himself as one of the most lucrative future stallions in the world.

The Peter Snowden-trained Sepoy was the $2.90 favourite at Luxbet for the 2011 Golden Slipper.

Before the race began, there was trouble in the barrier stalls that resulted in the shock scratching of both Fast And Sexy and second favourite Smart Missile.

Peter Snowden was lost for words when asked how he felt after the race.

“This is the best day of my life apart from my marriage,” he said.

“It’s the best feeling of my life.”

Sepoy’s win was the accumulation of many years of hard work on Peter Snowden’s part.

“I work my whole life for this,” Snowden said.

“Everyone’s got a signature race and this would be mine.”

Sepoy received a staggering $2 million for his win in today’s Golden Slipper, bringing his total prize earnings to $2.85 million from just six starts.

Rangirangdoo has announced his return to the upper echelon of Australian Group racing with a hard fought win in the 2011 George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill Gardens.

Just 12 months ago connections decided to press on with the gelding despite the odds been stacked against his recovery following a severe injury.

Today though he proved just how much of a fighter he is with a fitting finish to the race going down to a photo in which he edged out Love Conquers All by a nose.

After the race it almost became too much for his star trainer Chris Waller who was visibly emotional during the post race interview.

Waller couldn’t pay enough credit to the support staff at his stable who put in hundreds and hundreds of hours to get Rangirangdoo back to his winning best.

He adds the George Ryder to his resume today after winning the 2010 Doncaster Mile last year.

It’s even more amazing to think the horse has had just one run in between those victories spanning a full year.

Corey brown executed a perfect race plan during the race and did the job for the connections who had backed him earlier in the week.

Brown had initially tried to swap horses for a ride on Melito but after she wasn’t entered in the race Waller accepted his request to come back to his stable.

It was a fantastic race with four horses still well in contention in the final 50m.

Rangirangdoo was just too good though with Triple Elegance grabbing third spot ahead of Aloha.

Bookies were rejoicing in the win as well with $15 the final Luxbet.com price adding to the miserable day favourite backers have had on 2011 Golden Slipper Day.

2011 George Ryder Stakes Results

1st – #2 Rangirangdoo ($15)

2nd – #9 Love Conquers All ($6.00)

3rd – #10 Triple Elegance ($3.00)

The 2011 The BMW has been taken out by $27 roughie Cedarberg in Race 5 at Rosehill Gardens today.

Cedarberg won the $2.25 million The BMW by one and a half lengths in front of Mourayan and Linton.

Cedarberg proved that he is up with the best names in racing by winning the premier Group 1 event.

The four-year old gelding will now take home first prize money of a whopping $1.23 million for his connections and trainer.

Cedarberg finished second in the Listed Mornington Cup two starts back behind Guyno, missing out on the win by no more than a whisker.

The Helenus gelding was passed in at the Perth Magic Millions sales for $32,500 and has now won almost $1.5 million over his 15 career starts.

Cedarberg paid odds of $27 to win the 2011 The BMW at Luxbet.

In what will probably be the upset of the day Mirjulisa Lass has claimed victory over a host of more fancied rivals in the Vinery Stud Stakes at Rosehill Gardens.

At a hefty $61 with online bookmaker Luxbet, Mirjulisa Lass had few friends in the betting ring but a crew of noisy supporters in the owners area.

Big favourite Brazilian Pulse was given far too much to do by jockey Craig Williams running three wide the entire trip and then ducking back for a inside run in a very strange performance.

With the pace on early it looked like Do Ra Mi was set for big things with the run of the race seemingly hers with perfect track position.

Mirjulisa Lass was much further back in the field, ridden patiently until the home turn when the track just opened up for her on the inside.

Fibrillation came right around the field to gain a run on the other side of the track but the extra metres he had to travel meant he was never going to challenge the winner.

With 300m to go the race was won with Mirjulisa Lass grabbing an incredible Group 1 victory for her owners who paid a mere $2500.

Fibrillation showed plenty of class to storm home for second while Brazilian Pulse still managed to hit the line for third after all her wasted effort.

From here plenty of these will be heading to the AJC Oaks with the extra few metres to make things very interesting.

For now though it’s party time for connections with a big night ahead in Sydney for all those involved with Mirjulisa Lass.

Vinery Stud Stakes Results

1st – #5 Mirjulisa Lass ($51)

2nd – #6 Fibrillation ($2.80)

3rd – #1 Brazilian Pulse ($1.30)
