Rosehill Confirmed As Dead 5 On 2011 Golden Slipper Day

As expected the 2011 Golden Slipper will be run on a dead track after the final track inspection on race day morning.

The dead 5 rating was expected after Rosehill had light rain falling throughout most of the week.

There is a chance it could improve to a dead 4 by the time the race jumps but either way it’s a grading that creates a fairly even playing field for all the runners.

Some were hoping for a bone dry surface and some fancy themselves as mud runners but this meets them halfway and should mean no excuses by any trainers post race.

With a few weeks of consecutive racing on the track degradation still shouldn’t be a concern with the rail moved out 4m.

One thing that shouldn’t happen is a track downgrade unless of course Sydney produces another freak storm.

Showers were predicted earlier in the week but with the sun shining this morning the chance of rain later in the afternoon is now considered just a 10 percent chance.

One thing that is predicted though is wind which will create plenty of work for any runners finding themselves trapped outside without any cover.

Racing begins at Rosehill Gardens just before midday AEDST
